Abstract
The main milestones in the history of social network research are outlined. The views of those scientists who are considered to be the founders in this field, set the terminology used in it: p. Lazarsfeld, J. Moreno, J. Homans, F. Hader, A. Bayvlas, J. Coleman, S. Milgram, R. Burt, M. Granovetter, D. white, etc. The paper summarizes the challenges facing network researchers today.
