Аннотация
According to the genealogical patronymic linkage system (father-son joint naming; the patrilineal genealogies with interlocking names), the final part of the father's official name forms the fi rst part of the boy's name. Such phonetic link in names is used by many peoples of the Burmese-Yipho (or Lolo-Burmese) subgroup of the Tibeto-Burman linguistмc family, among the members of which are the Hani (Ha Nhi) and Akha. These closely related peoples are spread over the border areas between Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, China, Laos, and Vietnam. The paper takes as its subject matter the analysis of the Vietnamese Hani (Ha Nhi) anthroponymy. The studies of the Hani naming traditions include: Nguyen Van Huy (1985), Ho Xuan Kieu (1999), Та Van Thong and Le Dong (2001). Many of these Vietnamese authors interpret the Hani anthroponymic model as much the same thing as the Viet (Kinh) model (pattern). But it would be oversimplifying the matter to do so. In the present author's opinion, attempts undertaken by the Vietnamese scholars to describe, discuss and explain the Hani naming system using terms of the Viet mould were not fully successful. The Viet model (family name / surname + intermediate / lining name + personal name) cannot be fruitfully extended and satisfactorily applied to the Hani setting (the regular overlapping pattern), or, to put it into other words, the Hani material does not fi t the Viet model. The Akha ethnography is instructive in approaching the Hani. It provides material for evaluating the Vietnamese scholars' arguments about the nature of the Hani naming system.
