- Abstract
- The article is an analysis of the place of the monument to genocide victims in the context of Armenian remembering and mourning rites. The author discusses various problems surrounding the construction of the monument and argues that the tradition of annual pilgrimage to the monument, which emerged afterwards, came to be a specific manifestation of an ancestor cult that rested on both social memory and national rituals.
