Abstract
The article is a venture into an exploration of a unique text by Egyptian scholar Tantavi who had spent a third of his life working in Russia. The text, which entitled "The Description of Russia", is currently located at the manuscript department of the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg and manifests, as the author notes, the only example of nineteenth-century Arabic literature presenting a detailed account of the history, culture, and religion of nineteenth-century Russia.
