Abstract
Reviewing various contributions by Nikolai Cheboksarov to the fi eld of ethnographic and anthropological studies in Russia, the authors focus on the part Cheboksarov played in the establishment and development of ethnographic museum studies in Moscow. They examine an extensive collection of objects donated by Cheboksarov to the Ethnographic Museum of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Sciences, and draw attention to its remarkable scholarly and artistic value. The article features personal recollections of Cheboksarov showing him as a scholar and a person.
