Abstract
The article is a study of a range of anthroponymic issues pertaining to South-Eastern Abkhazia's population, such as the ways of forming family names, the infl uence of ethnic processes on anthroponymic patterns, and others. Drawing on both archival and fi eld materials, the author expounds the importance of researching the issues and discusses the idea of developing a systematized anthroponymic dictionary of Abkhazian family names.
