Abstract
The article discusses the practices of contemporary biomedical research. The author argues that the ethical regulation of this type of research may be interpreted not just as application of particular social technologies but also as a step toward fundamental reappraisal of the social role of human being as a research subject. Such reappraisal should be closely linked to the idea of respect for his or her autonomy and human dignity.
