Abstract
By examining the relationships between the theater and the state, the theater and the church, and the theater and the ethnos, the author discusses the question of cultural traits of the Russian people as represented by the Russian drama theater. He further makes an attempt at delineating the phenomenon of Russian person and Russian culture through the prism of theatricality.
