- Abstract
- The article examines the family prayer Ag-nykh which remains one of the most interesting examples of religious life of the modern Abkhaz. The ritual complex still features a number of ceremonial and material elements that have been either lost or absent in other religious practices of the type. Drawing on the comparative analysis of research data obtained through her own fieldwork and studies previously conducted by other scholars, the author argues that historical continuity may be traced between the prayer under consideration and and the cult of Ahyn which had been once common in the Black Sea region.
