Abstract
The population of Xinjiang, an autonomous region of China, is ethnically and culturally diverse. There are a variety of the factors influencing ways of life and identities of different population groups, such as historical, geographical conditions, and others. The author draws on ethnographic and sociological sources, as well as statistical data and content analysis, to explore the trends of contemporary development of ethnic, social, and cultural situation in the region.
