Abstract
A review of theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence on the origins of altruism is presented. Some manifestations of altruism and cooperation in the animal world and potential enabling mechanisms are described. General biology approach presented in this article gives the author a way to consider Human altruism in the evolutionary perspective.
