Abstract
Based on theoretical and empirical analysis of statistical and sociological data, a portrait of modern Bashkortostan is presented. The features of the Republic as a socio-cultural community, characterized by strengths and weaknesses of the modernization process in the region, based on empirical research shows the key problem of social and cultural modernization.
