Abstract
The article discusses the concept of a cosmopolitan community put Forward by W. Beck and his criticism of the principle of “methodological nationalism”; the strengths and weaknesses of this concept are analyzed. It is concluded that the ideas W. Beck's works are relevant mainly for Western European sociology and do not reflect the socio-political realities of other regions of the world.
