Abstract
The theoretical framework of the concept of student engagement and the methodology of its study through the construction of indexes are proposed. The analysis of the reliability-consistency and constructive validity of the indices showed the suitability of the developed methodology for studying student involvement in Russian universities. When analyzing the behavior of students using indexes, its main characteristics in the educational process are revealed.
