Abstract

In 1937, P. A. Sorokin and R. K. Merton published an article on social time. They stated that most researchers in the field of the social Sciences agree with the possibility of using the astronomical concept of evenly flowing, quantitive time. They tried to introduce the concept of “social time” as a methodological tool, the use of which will allow a deeper understanding of social periodicity. G. Gurvich and other sociologists contributed to the consolidation of the concept of social time in sociology. However, the article identifies problems in the use of this concept.
