Abstract
The article considers from a linguistic point of view a small fragment of A.S. Griboyedov "Woe from Wit", which traditionally did not attract the attention of commentators, apparently due to apparent "simplicity" and "clarity". But do we understand today those are realities and meaning adequate to the author and his contemporaries? Or already - only somehow in its own way, according to our time? These questions the author of the article answers.
Keywords
gallomania, confusion of languages, social division, Babylonian pandemonium, internal schism in Orthodoxy.
