Abstract
It is known that the ability to produce and understand a pun is a compound part of the speech image of a rhetorically literate native speaker; it is also known that the pun is one of the least covered topics in both Western and Russian rhetoric. So as to to master this far from simple topic theoretically, and therefore methodically, the author of the article seeks to identify and systematize techniques pun production.
