- В статье на основе богатого историко-этнографического материала из разных областей Шотландии и других стран рассматривается динамика преемственности и изменчивости более чем 200-летней традиции шотландского танца на примере "Таллохского рила" – хореографической версии одного из четырех основных танцев, исполняемых на соревнованиях по хайланду во всем мире. В поле зрения исследования – историко-культурная значимость моментов трансформации танцевального репертуара в связи с включением танца в программу "игр горцев" в XIX в. и стандартизацией его элементов и техники в середине XX в., а также роль преемственности поколений в сохранении и развитии шотландского танца. Методы семиотики танца и исторической антропологии позволяют взглянуть на преемственность и изменчивость танца с разных позиций и достичь баланса между конструктивистским взглядом на шотландские танцы как на "изобретенную традицию", с одной стороны, и богатым опытом сотворчества многих поколений танцоров, преподавателей, судей, музыкантов и зрителей, с другой стороны.
