- Abstract
- The study focuses on the issues of ethnic identity, tolerance, socio-psychological closeness, and interethnic relations between Russian and Ukrainian youth. A bloc of questions deals with the problem of the integrity of the two countries, as well as confidence in the state authorities and sources of patriotic feelings. There are questions concerning similarities and differences in understanding a number of certain key events in the history of both countries, that are presented differently in school and college textbooks in both countries. The results reveal some tension and a certain degree of intolerance in the relations between Russian and Ukrainian youth which can be accounted for not by their own life experience but seem to be inculcated by the media and school and college indoctrination.
