Abstract
The article examines the structure and local and territorial specificities of the traditional seasonal ritual of ker sari held in autumn. Its functions have been undergoing a transformation in the context of the present day festive culture of the Chuvach. As a ritual having to do with family and kinship, it still bears a relationship to the ancestor cult; however, as a rite adapting to the contemporary conditions in the urban milieu, ker sari gradually loses some of its former functions, retaining but a formal connection to the tradition owing to the general surface appearance.
